Still "Doin' It" after all these years (breathing)
Roger Wayne Ritchie, 64, of Muskogee, died Friday, December 6, 2013, at the Jack C. Montgomery Veterans Administration Medical Center. He was born October 2, 1949 in Muskogee to Arthur Wright and Anna Mae (Moore) Ritchie. Roger graduated from Muskogee Central High School in 1967. He also graduated from OSU Okmulgee in 1983 with an Associate Degree in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning. He served in the United States Air Force during the Viet Nam Era, and was Honorably Discharged. Roger was employed with the United States Federal Government throughout his career. He worked as a Claims Adjudicator at the Veterans Administration Medical Center before his entry into the field of HVAC. He then went on to work at the U.S. Federal Courthouse as the Maintenance Technician for building operations. Roger retired with 40 years of government service.
Roger enjoyed spending time with his children and a group of long-time friends, who spent many good times traveling and cooking. He was an avid swimmer and diver, and was a member of the Muskogee Central High School swim team. Roger was a painstaking craftsman, and enjoyed working with his hands, building and restoring cabinetry and antiques. He also had beloved pets, which were with him until his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of thirteen years, Laura Ellen (Logan) Ritchie, who passed away in 2004.
Roger is survived by his two daughters and son, Rachael Gilliam and husband Will; Lauren Ritchie and Aaron Ritchie; grandchildren, Jack Gilliam and Olivia Gilliam; all of Muskogee, OK; two sisters, Judith Willis, of Mena, AR, and Linda Boyd of Muskogee; nephews, Jason Brown, Mark Romine, and Nick Romine and a host of extended family and close friends. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 13, 2013 in the Bradley Belltower Chapel with Bill Crow officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
