Muskogee Central High Class of 1967

Still "Doin' It" after all these years (breathing)

Mike, I hope you see this because I'm guessing that you are the only one who can answer my question.

I remember that Ronnie was a great basketball player in the ninth grade....better than my buddy Mike Standifer, which is saying something.  And I know he started out playing basketball for the Greenies.  But for some reason he never played much (if at all) for the Roughers.  Why not?  Did he get on Russell's bad side?  That wasn't all that hard to do.  I simply don't remember what happened.  Do you?

The blonde Bomber - Ronnie Bennett.  David I can't remember but I think SR year he had a football injury(seperated shoulder)  but not really sure. He had that weird jump shot that was deadly. He handled the ball well. He was a great guy. Brussel sprouts did have a cold temper and a long memory: Coach Fowler talked me into spring football Jr. year (after losing to Ponca City in regional play off, I didn't get to play at all and only 2 or 3 min in the regular season losses to PC, our only losses, I was pissed and went out for football) . Coach Bradley said I would not start a game if I went out for football, I didn't start one game sr. year...Jack Crane would tip off and Coach Bradley would put me in at the first time out. Ronnie didn't play much Jr. year either, but he certainly was a gifted athlete and a wonderful person.

I remember after our junior year that you were virtually unstoppable when we worked out and THEN you had to go out for football.  And you just weren't the same player after you played football compared to how you had been playing post-junior year and pre-football. That's the way I remember it.  I had the joy of watching "the Ripper" start for me for several games my senior year when the team (but not necessarily me) got off to a slow start our senior year.  Russell did indeed act in mysterious ways.

Do you know what Albert is going?  I talked to Mike a couple of days ago but forgot to ask.  He's lost track of Jack Crain which I know he regrets.  They were close friends.

I swear to god that I thought that Brussel sprouts threw the games against PC but I left home in December and started sleeping around, I think life became more complex and I lost my focus. I couch surfed at Buck's house for several weeks.... End up at my minister's house.

I ask Allan Harder about Ost Albert Bonnell, Here’s an email address and phone number for another; Albert Bonnell,  alkebo@hotmail.com  (918) 946-0668

We talk off and on over the years.

I sent him an email but haven't heard back.

Did you say you talked with Mike Standifer? how is he and what and where is he doing?

Mike seems to be doing okay.  He had a really good job and then that company was sold.  So I surmise that he struggled for several years (to what extent I don't know) but he's currently working as a tech head hunter.  He's been married forever, but never had any children.  Mike always has had a great attitude about life in general and seems very happy.  If I were at work I could give you his phone number.  I'm taking the last two days of the year off.

I never knew you left home.  As I think back about our high school days we seemed to run in different circles, so I didn't really know you that well.  Our lives just sort of intersected on the basketball court.

The PC game was a killer.  I think we may have had the best team in the state, but we didn't match up well with them.  They were really big and bulky.  I think I guarded someone who was a couple of inches taller than me, but outweighed me by 50 pounds.  Of course almost everyone outweighed me.  I weighed 165 then and 220 today.
